Getting Bluebird, aka Blue

I’ve been looking for a 26.5 midbath Lazy Daze camper for quite a while. I had been looking everywhere I could think of online and finally found a way to search Craigslist nation wide (searchtempest). Finally, the exact camper I was looking for showed up at a lot in Oregon. My son and his wife live in Washington, so I booked a trip to Oregon to see the camper, figuring that at least I could jump up to Washington and visit them.

The minute I set foot into Blue, I knew she was the one for me. I’ve had two other campers now so I’m pretty clear on what I was looking for, and Blue delivered. And that was before the test drive when a guy pulled up next to us, made the universal “roll down your window” gesture, and proceeded to pepper me with questions about this cool camper that I was driving. The salesman swore he didn’t arrange that.

So I bought her in the spot, took care of the paperwork and immediately headed north towards Washington.

Dreaming

I’m planning to retire in February 2020 and hit the road full time soon thereafter. This blog will be my way of keeping my family and friends updated on what I’m doing, where I’m going, Who I’m meeting and what I’m seeing. And of course way too many pictures of Panda!

Early Daze

After arriving in Olympia I got a campsite and went to visit my son Devin and his wife Nikki. The next morning we headed out for my maiden voyage, part 2, to the Olympic peninsula. So incredibly beautiful. Dev and Nik go there a lot and showed me all the best places. We camped at some randomly weird campground after having a scare because many of the campgrounds that we called seemed to be closed, this being late October. We still had a fun night; it was Nikki’s first night camping (ever) and Devin’s first night glamping, as they say (and I usually shudder when they do)
